Hi Everyone!
Thanks for stopping by. I am excited to introduce myself since there are so many new faces here. This will be my longest post. I promise. I am having a blast starting out in this new realm of social media and have really enjoyed connecting with many enthusiastic, inspiring, talented, and supportive people.
🦋
My name is Kerry Luke and I was born and grew up in Columbus, Ohio with my two parents, and three siblings, Labrador retrievers and a sweet dachshund. I am the second daughter out of three girls and a boy, “middle girl” (you know what they say. We’ll get to that later.).
🦋
I am a woman, a wife, a mother of two highly energetic and sweet kiddos who are 6 and 10 years old, a wife, a dog lover from afar (even though I am now allergic as an adult), self-help book lover, a chocolate snob (I am not one bit ashamed of it ), a proud member of Bachelor Nation, a Buckeye, a feminist, an OU bobcat, a snow skier (that is how I met my husband), a “Damn Yankee, lovingly given to me when I lived in the South, a Musketeer from my Xavier days, a body appreciation champion, a nature enthusiast, an earth lover, a night owl, a meditator, a jogger, a hot springs enthusiast (just ask my kids), a peacemaker, an eternal optimist (coined by my dear friend, Annette), a forever learner, a lover of arts and crafts, a food enthusiast, an evolving minimalist ( I am working on it. 🙂), a music lover, a guitar player, a sensitive and emotionally aware person (I guess that is a good since I am a psychologist), a collaborator, a smart ass, a suicide prevention trainer, and a teacher.
🦋
Here at Body Appreciation and Self-Kindness, you can expect posts and/or stories about how to be a kinder person to yourself, tips about parenting young children, thoughts about the daily grind, numerous mental health topics and safe, healthy ways to reduce suffering from anxiety and enhance one’s mood, relevant current events, healthy relationships, how to find pockets of peace and sanity, how we can treat ourselves, our bodies, and others with kindness and respect, tie-ins to pop-culture, serious and silly stories that have helped me grow as a person, and so much more.
🦋
I love sharing tips and resources to help people live more balanced, happier lives and intertwining the clinical part of me with the non-clinician part of me. I enjoy writing and sharing about mental health in bite-sized forms and like throwing in a little bit of neuroscience when it is too awesome not to share. I hope that you will stay here so we can chat and get to know each other better. Thank you for reading. I look forward to connecting, engaging, and sharing ideas with you, perhaps over some fabulous delicious dark chocolate (not the fake stuff, mkay?).
With gratitude and kindness,
💕Kerry
